Discover Florida’s Hidden Reptiles and Amphibians

Everglades Herping Tours | Explore the Wild Side of South Florida

When I was a kid, I called it “snake hunting.” Today, they call it “herping” but the thrill is still the same! The Florida Everglades is one of the best places in the world for herping adventures, and right in the middle of it all lies the incredible Big Cypress National Preserve, a vast, untamed paradise for reptile and amphibian enthusiasts. If you’ve ever dreamed of spotting Florida’s wild side up close, this is where you want to be.

Our tours begin just before sunset, when the Everglades starts to come alive. As the sky glows orange and pink, we head deep into the wilderness—cruising old dirt roads and remote trails that wind through Big Cypress and beyond. The changing light brings out some of the most active moments in the reptile world, and with a little patience and a sharp eye, incredible sightings await.

Summertime tends to be the most productive season for herping, but the Everglades offers something to see year-round. Along the way, we often encounter:

  • Native and invasive snakes of all kinds
  • Curious alligators resting along the roadside
  • Colorful frogs and toads calling in the night
  • Elusive owls and nocturnal birds watching from the trees

Each tour is a completely unique experience—no two nights are ever the same in the Everglades.
