If you’re interested in the local history, this is definitely the tour for you.  The tour will first meet at one of the local museums, either Marco Island or Everglades City.  Here you’ll get a deep understanding of the ancient history of this area.  Humans have been living in the 10,000 islands since before the pyramids were constructed in Egypt!  You will see their artifacts, tools, weapons and artwork, carefully displayed under glass.  We typically spend about an hour at the museum before breaking for lunch… and ultimately meet up again at the dock.

For the second part of the tour, we will venture out to the islands where the ancient Calusa Indians, and early settlers actually made their home.  We will explore the man-made Shell Islands left behind by the Paleo people of Florida. Some of these mounds have been radiocarbon dated to 2800 BC! We also walk the beaches of the barrier islands, identifying traces of their ancient civilization.
